FAQ

How are we better than the competition?

We are able to supply lubrication solutions to every problem in every industry. We have lubricators that fit into every budget. All of our models are more sophisticated, more reliable, and more affordable than any others on the market. We have a recycling program that rewards the client with rebates. We have units that can be programmed by hand or computer -- all for the same price. We run our own business in a cost effective way in order to be able to offer the same opportunity to our clients.

What are the units filled with?

The AGS Automatic Greasing units are normally filled with the extremely efficient Esso Unirex EP-2 or similar grease. Where oil is required, any multipurpose oil that the client wishes can be used.

In addition, greases and oils of all types can be provided to meet the specific needs of every application. We can also supply environmentally friendly, biodegradable lubricants with the UN Environment Program seal of approval.

Are there special requirements when lubricating with oil?

Yes, we recommend a check valve of 0.2 to keep positive pressure on the line. Also, if the unit is to be mounted upside down, it is advisable to install it with a hose to the nipple or chain to facilitate the flow of the oil.

What is the recycle policy?

All units (except the Low-Cost Lubricator) can be returned. At the end of the year, a refund credit will be given based on the total number of units returned. This credit will be applied to orders in the following year. ICL and AGS are not responsible for the cost of returning the units.

Will extreme heat or cold temperatures affect the flow rate?

No. The AGS 125, 475, and the EM Lubricator all operate at temperatures from -40ºC to +65ºC (-40ºF to 149ºF). The Low-Cost Lubricator functions best between 0ºC and 40ºC (32ºF and 104ºF).

If the ambient temperature is too warm, what can I do?

With grease, it is possible to add extension hoses or ID tubing of up to 5 feet (1.5 m). With oil, it is possible to add extension hoses of 16 feet (5 m). The recommended internal diameter of tubing and hoses is 6-8mm. Before starting, fill grease or oil in the hoses or ID tubing.

The AGS greasing unit greases constantly -- no pulse-greasing. If lubricating with oil, timing should be increased by about 40% because of decreased line resistance. A check-valve of 0.2 bar is recommended.

How will I know when the lubricator is empty?

The AGS 125, 475, and the EM Lubricator have transparent plastic canisters which allow a visual check on the volume of grease or oil remaining. This is also the case with the Central Lubricating Plants.

If more control is desired, a contents monitoring attachment can be added. This reusable accessory monitors the contents of the unit and when the piston has extruded 95% of the grease or oil, the message EMPTY is sent to the electronic greasing unit which activates an acoustic or visual signal (lamp, speaker, or other choice).

Does the lubricator continue working over weekends or extended shut-down periods?

Once the AGS unit is activated and the initial pressure is built up, the unit will dispense grease until the bearing casing is full. It will maintain the internal pressure even if the unit is switched off. In cases where the unit is connected to a running motor, the lubrication will shut off when the equipment it is lubricating is stopped and re-start when the equipment is started again.

How much pressure can be created?

The 3 types of single-point automatic lubrication devices can create between 1.5 and 5 bar of pressure. The Central Lubrication Plants can create up to 280 bar. The Central Lube Plants are used in power plants, cement plants and heavy industries.

Will vibration affect the single-point lubrication units?

No. The units have been constructed in a way that is very rugged. They can be used in any high-vibration environment, e.g. on heavy equipment (e.g. Caterpillars, back hoes, and trucks), on assembly lines, etc. For extra security, there are mounting brackets available that can further stabilize the position of the unit.
